BIR Capiz hikes July tax take
Roxas City -- There is a P1.910 million excess in the revenue collection in Capiz this July.
Revenue District Officer Eralen de Aro said that the excess in their monthly goal of P28.598 million in July this year is partly attributed to the help of the media practitioners in Capiz.
De Aro said that the role of the media in their tax campaign had helped them surpass its goal by providing the public adequate information in their responsibility as taxpayers and the social payback the government can offer.
Collection Supervisor Socorrro Corros-Besa disclosed the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) here was able to raise more than P30.508 million revenue collection compared to the P25.567 million collection over the same period last year.
Besa said that the revenue collection of said office here from January to July this year reached more than P231.81 million.
The RDO 72 based in Roxas City has this year's goal of more than P415.7 million, De Aro disclosed.
On the other hand, the government remains on track with its revenue target and goal of having a zero budget deficit by the end of next year.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said that the government will raise P1.236 trillion in revenues next year which is more than enough to fund the proposed budget of P1.227 trillion.
To meet said goal, the BIR and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) are intensifying the tax administration programs, including the adoption of technology-based measures and governance initiatives to strengthen collection efficiency.
