WV Maritime Group chief cop is 'Best Senior Field Officer'
Western Visayas Philippine National Police Maritime Group (PNP-MARIG) regional officer Cornelio Salinas is MARIG's "best senior field officer" for three straight years.
Salinas earned the recognition in 2005, 2006 and 2007, besting other chiefs from different regions of the country.
Police Chief Superintendent Angelo Sunglao, MARIG Director said Salinas' management expertise yielded fruitful results and accomplishment for the police regional maritime office.
Under his leadership as regional officer, MARIG in region six, including region seven where he was assigned prior to his return to western Visayas, produced positive accomplishments, especially in enforcing laws against illegal fishing and other crimes.
He vowed to continue doing his job to ensure that western Visayas will be rid of illegal fishing activities and other forms of criminality, and to not just rest on his laurels.
Salinas received his plaque of recognition from Presidential Assistant on Maritime Affairs Generoso Mamaril and Police Director General Avelino Razon, Jr.
The awarding ceremony was held recently during the 17th anniversary of PNP-MARIG in Camp Crame.
Also in the same occasion, the region's maritime office was chosen third best in the country, while Police Chief Inspector Ervin Glenn Provido, Bacolod City's maritime police station chief, garnered the "junior field officer of the year" award. (PNA)
