City to file contempt vs. Ceneco
BACOLOD CITY -- Bacolod City Legal Officer Atty. Alan Zamora opted to file contempt charges against Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) after confirming reports from different schools and barangays that they received notice of disconnections from the said electric cooperative.
"The judge has already issued a status quo order and there will be no notice of disconnection," Zamora said.
He underscores the move of Ceneco Board Member Atty. Victor Sabornay who is pursuing said notice of disconnection. Zamora said that Atty. Sabornay, being a former City Legal Officer himself, must understand that he was the one who previously asked for the granting of the writ of prohibitory injunction in order to set aside the Notice of disconnection. "The writ of prohibitory injunction was not dissolved and it is still in effect" he added.
During the press conference yesterday, Mayor Evelio Leonardia clarified that during their last meeting with Ceneco General Manager Sulpicio Lagarde, nothing was mentioned about the issuance of demand letter or even notice of disconnection from the electric cooperative and was surprised when this information was brought to his attention.
Leonardia said that when the city hall received such information, he treated the act as 'traitorous' since both of them never mentioned the demand letter during their last conference which lasted for almost an hour. Leonardia suspected that within the Ceneco board, there is a move to pressure city hall because some of them are politically influenced by his political nemesis.
