Ceneco exec denies category downgrade
BACOLOD CITY -- Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) General Manager Sulpicio Lagarde belied reports that the cooperative's category was downgraded from A+ to Category B this 2008
Lagarde clarified that last year, 2007, the cooperative maintained its category to A+ with the score of over 90%. The result of the yearly evaluation is released three months after the preceding year, for instance the result of 2007 was released on March 2008.
"National Electrification Administration (NEA) conducts evaluation annually and not every half of the year," Lagarde said.
Lagarde added that though he only assumed office on May this year he is trying his best, with the help of the Board of Directors and employees, to maintain their category.
It was learned that Roberto Benedicto currently sits as Officer-in-Charge of the board as Ceneco President Roberto Montelibano is on a 45-day leave to United States.
Lagarde has instituted reforms in order to enhance their services to the consumers at the same time maintaining the stability of the cooperative.
All cooperatives in the country under NEA are judged annually based on eight fields. These are amortization payments, systems loss, collection efficiency, payment to power suppliers, non-power cost like office expenses and supplies, power cost, system liability, barangay energization and demerit points (e.g. cash advances).
Ceneco's categorization in 2003 was "D" or poor. It was then the time of Ceneco President Eddie Guillem when the rating was lifted to "A" in 2004 and "A+" from 2005 up to the present until new officers of the board and management came in.
