Leonardia asks P10M supplemental budget for garbage, Masskara Festival
BACOLOD CITY – City Councilor Greg Gasataya confirmed yesterday that Mayor Evelio Leonardia had submitted a request for the passage ordinance appropriating the amount of P10 million from the item "underestimated real property tax" for the essential needs of the City Government including the solid waste management project and next month's Masskara Festival.
Gasataya stressed that the P5 million appropriation from the total amount allocated will be spent for various concerns like the salaries and wages of the garbage collectors, street cleaners as well as the enforcement team.
Other expenses will be used in the operation of the Department of Public Services (DPS) like the maintenance of 26 dump trucks and 6 rented dump trucks from a private entity.
Gasataya failed to account on how much money is being spent on the garbage trucks because it is the function of the DPS Administrative Office.
Gasataya believed that there was a bidding on the dumptruck rentals. He gave an assurance that the problem on gasoline consumption will be normalized after it was reported that there was a shortages of gasoline that leads to non-collection of garbage last week.
Gasataya admitted that the shortage was due to high cost of gasoline and any other problem that hampers the operation of DPS.
Documents presented by the City Mayor stated that the P4 million pesos will be used as a subsidy for the barangays who will join in the coming Masskara and Streetdance competitiion.
The Mayor's request for appropriation ordinance was supported by the signature of the City Treasurer's Office as to the availability of funds. Other funds will be used for our electric Masskara festival usually participated in by various business groups.
