Gen. Peralta-Dinagyang Park to be inaugurated Jan. 21
The General Peralta-Dinagyang Park at the back of the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand will be inaugurated on January 21, 2009 at 10 in the morning. The blessing is in time for this week’s Dinagyang festival.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said the new landscape placed with the monument of Ilonggo war hero General Macario Peralta was given emphasis. His structure was then situated near the comfort room at the back of the Freedom Grandstand.
The new landscape and placement of Peralta’s statue on its proper place is one of the city government’s efforts in honoring and recognizing the former general who made a name in the Ilonggo history.
Treñas said aside from the General Peralta-Dinagyang Park, the new comfort room constructed at the back of the Freedom Grandstand will also be blessed. It is a world-class comfort room to accommodate the personal needs of the visitors.
Treñas said they will ask for a P5 donation from those who want to use the facility for their personal needs. The money will be spent in buying the toiletries, soaps and deodorizers to maintain its cleanliness. There would be assigned personnel to maintain cleanliness of the restroom during the Dinagyang celebration.
Moreover, illegal structures at the back of the grandstand which are deemed eyesore have already been removed.
