PRO-6 honors wounded cop
Efficient and effective public service truly pays. But for Police Officer III (PO3) Hernando Saguan, who was wounded in the course of the performance of his mandate, receiving an award for a well-performed duty is simply a bonus.
The Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 awarded recently a Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting (PNP Wounded Medal) to Saguan who thwarted the robbery attempt of four armed suspects against Christian Lloyd Javellana of Philippine Foremost Milling Corporation last December 23, 2008 at Roxas St, San Miguel, Iloilo.
Saguan, who is assigned at San Miguel Police Station, was on board a public utility jeepney from Iloilo City when he noticed the van driven by Javellana being blocked by the suspects. He alighted then from the jeepney and intervened causing a shootout between him and the suspects. He was wounded and so too one of the suspects, who is not yet identified.
PRO6 Director, Chief Superintendent Isagani R. Cuevas, said the heroism of POIII Saguan is worthy of emulation by his colleagues and, therefore, deserves a recognition. (POII F. Lindero Jr)
