Southland College launched in Kabankalan
KABANKALAN City -- A soft launching and caravan of Southland College was held in Kabankalan City on May 16 with Governor Isidro Zayco as guest of honor.
Cutting the ceremonial ribbon were Annette Villaluz with Mayor Pedro Zayco, Jr. Other guests present during the rites were Vice Mayor Delia Anacan, Councilor Jo-an Cagape and Rev. Edwin Lopez of Lifeline International Institute.
Southland College, located at Don Emilio Village, Brgy. 9 is the latest college to have opened in Kabankalan City with Dr. Anecito Villaluz, Jr., as president. Classes will open on June 8.
For a start, SC is offering a four-year course in Accountancy, Business Administration and Accounting Technology. It also offers a one-year Caregiving and Practical Nursing and 2-year Midwifery Course and a complete pre-school, elementary and high school departments.
Gov. Zayco said the opening of the SC is an answer to the need for more schools in the fast-growing city of Kabankalan and a big boost to its socio-economic progress. Mayor Zayco said the local government will extend help it whatever way it can to the young college. The mayor said he is happy that Kabankalan is now becoming the education center in south of Negros.
