Jail escapees in Victorias City all accounted for
BACOLOD CITY -- Exactly 30 hours after their daring escape from the Victorias City Police Station lock up cell, four escapees were rearrested one after the other by elements of the local police and were immediately detained facing additional charges for their acts.
Police Superintendent Jomil John Trio, chief of the local police, in his report to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) Operations and Plans Branch said that the four suspects made good their escape by sawing off the grills of the lock up cell early morning of May 18.
He identified the four as Donald Gomez, 28, Renato Malaga, 19, Ronald Endrina, 18, and Jeffrey Pelante, 21, all facing theft and robbery charges in the city.Except for Gomez, who hails from Barangay Caduhaan in Cadiz City, all are residents of Victorias City .
First to fall was Gomez who surrendered through the intercession of his parents last Monday evening while Endrina and Malaga were intercepted in Barangay Caduhaan while on board a cargo truck headed for Victorias City thru the help of Caduhaan Brgy Capt Eduardo Javier.
The last to surrender was Pelante, who managed to elude arresting officers in Cadiz City after he jumped off the truck when companions Endrina and Malaga were captured by tanods and the group of Javier after he was endorsed to a team of Victorias City PNP personnel led by Senior Police Officer 1 Menardo Ellaga.
Police Senior Superintendent Manmuel Felix, provincial director of Negros Occidental, commended the Victorias City PNP for their swift action that led to the recapture of the escaped prisoners and likewise ordered for an impartial investigation as to the liability of Police Officer 3 Raymundo Jundos, jailer-on-duty, during the time of the escape.
