Prov’l Board wants LBC ad withdrawn
BACOLOD CITY -- The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental is set to pass a resolution requesting LBC, a delivery service provider, to withdraw its controversial advertisement, which it said is detrimental to Filipino educational values.
The august body joined the clamor for the withdrawal of the LBC television advertisement, showing a child spelling the word “remittance” as “LBC, “affordable” as LBC and “instant” as LBC.
The said resolution is jointly authored by Vice Gov. Emilio Yulo III and Board Member Miller Serondo.
Yulo said, they will deliberate it expectedly by Wednesday next week when they resume their regular session.
In one version of the commercial, movie actor Edu Manzano, acting as a quiz master in the television advertisement, is shown asking a boy to spell the word “remittance” and the boy answers “LBC.”
Recently, the Cebu Sangguniang Panlalawigan also passed a resolution condemning what it called the “misleading and improper” television advertisement of LBC.
On the other hand, Education Secretary Jesli Lapus said he would ask the company to review and terminate the airing of the advertisement to prevent confusion among schoolchildren over the correct spelling of the word “remittance”, “affordable” and “instant”.
