Parents urged to enroll 5-yr-old kids in schools
An education official has encouraged parents who have five-year-old children to enroll them in public schools which for the first time now offer preschool classes.
Department of Education (DepEd) Iloilo City Schools Superintendent Erlinda Gencaya said their children could be enrolled at the DepEd schools before they are accepted at the day care centers of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
She said for children who would yet turn five years old this June to Oct. 31, 2009, they could be admitted to preschool. While those who would turn six years old could be enrolled in Grade I.
The five to four-year-old children are still being enrolled at the day care center.(PNA)
