3 charged for murder of Capiz solon's political officer
ROXAS CITY – Murders charges had been filed yesterday morning against three big time personalities who are suspects in the killing of Art Cruz political officer of 1st District Cong. Antonio del Rosario.
City Prosecutor Erwin Ignacio initially told The News Today (TNT) that the respondents in the case were a certain Glenn, Ethel and Rand.
Ignacio refused to elaborate more on the case since the respondents have not yet served their subpoenas.
However, dyOW Bombo Radyo identified the respondents as Glendofer Beup, blocktimer mediaman and municipal administrator of Sta. Barbara, Iloilo; Engr. Ethel Morales, project engineer of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 1st engineering district, and a certain Rand.
Ignacio said that the case is docketed as No. VI-16-INV-09F-000161 entitled SP01 Charlyn Tupaz vs Alyas Glenn, Ethel and Rand for murder.
The city prosecutor said that Tupaz was accompanied by Supt. Leo Batiles, chief of the Roxas City Police Station, in submitting the sworn affidavit of the lone witness, death certificate, police blotter report, sketch with picture and one pair blue slippers in filing the murder case.
He said that Cruz's family members have not submitted sworn affidavit to the police.
Ignacio formed a special team of prosecutors to conduct a preliminary investigation on the said case, namely, 4th Assistant City Prosecutor James V. Advincula and 4th Assistant City Prosecutor Fernald H. Jornales.
Earlier, Beup surfaced to strongly deny allegations that he has something to do with the killing of Cruz.
“I want to inform the public that somebody is framing me up in the killing of Art Cruz for reasons I don’t know,” Beup said in a radio interview last week.
Beup, who is an anchorman of “Pulso sg Banwa” aired at Alto cable television and has a block time program at both dyOW Bombo Radyo and RMN-dyVR, was linked to the Cruz killing after a lady witness disclosed that Beup was seen in the area where Cruz was shot to death last May 7 along Boulevard, this city.
Beup said he came out in the open to seek help from his colleagues in the media to clear his name because he is innocent of the crime.
He said that he is not hiding from the public adding that he only want to secure himself for he does not know who are his opponents.
A lady witness together with her boyfriend revealed she heard the name of Glenn during the heated altercation between the suspects and Cruz over the share of several projects.
The witness also revealed that Cruz was shot by several suspects including a woman.
Beup was a hard hitting commentator of dyOW Bombo Radyo for several years and became station manager of dyIN Bombo Radyo in Kalibo, Aklan before he became Sta. Barbara administrator.
Beup said that he was at the house of his aunt during the incident but admitted he met with Cruz at the provincial capitol and gave the latter the amount of P1,000 before the incident.
