JICA donates computer cum printers to MIGEDC LGUs
The Metro Iloilo-Guimaras Economic Development Council (MIGEDC) was a recipient of a donation of 7 sets of computer with printers from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in a ceremony which culminated in a Mid-Term presentation of the project performance profile of the MIGEDC-JICA Mutli-stakeholder Transport Planning and Traffic Management Improvement for Metro Iloilo-Guimaras under its Capacity Enhancement Program last June 18, 2009 at the Grand Hotel, Iloilo City.
These sets of equipment were first handed over to the MIGEDC by the JICA Expert Team Leader Mr. Akio Nakamura to Ms. Ma. Cristina Octavio, Assistant Executive Director of MIGEDC and the latter awarded these to the seven (7) local government units represented by their respective mayors, namely, Hon. Arcadio Gorriceta of Pavia, Hon. Isabelo Maquino of Sta. Barbara, Hon. Gregorio Villarico of San Miguel and Hon. Vicente Flores of Oton. The Hon. Adolfo Jaen of Leganes was represented by ENgr. Ninford Raymundo (of the Municipal Engineer’s Office of Leganes); the Governor of Guimaras was represented by SP Patricio Gange.
The donation was made specifically for use of the members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the respective MIGEDC-LGU in connection with the Capacity Building Program of the Project. The equipment intends to provide administrative support to the LGU’s in the formulation of the project’s output which is the “Traffic Management Action Agenda”. This will be the culmination and application of the TWG members’ learnings from the series of technical trainings as in the seminars and on-the-job exposures given by experts from the National Center for Transportation Studies (NCTS) UP Diliman and as well as from those local ones from the University of the Philippines Visayas.
The core of the capability building program consists in the development of the ability of the LGU transport and traffic management personnel to draw up a specific action plan for their transport and traffic management utilizing the knowledge and skills they have learned from the several other exposures the project offers. It is envisioned that they too make functional this action plan upon the termination of the JICA grant to the MIGEDC.
