More jobs open for Iloilo nurses
Expect employment growth in the provinces of Iloilo and Guimaras this year as more unemployed nurses will be hired under the Nurses Assigned in Rural Service (NARS) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Nelia Mabilog, Senior Labor and Employment Officer of DOLE – Iloilo said another batch of 160 nurse trainees will be hired under the NARS program to be deployed in some 32 poorest municipalities of the said provinces starting on October 1, 2009.
“The application is still on-going and interested qualified applicants can register online at http//www.nars.dole.gov.ph,” said Mabilog.
Qualified for this six-month employment-cum-training program are those nurses who are not over 35-year old with valid nurse license issued by the Philippine Regulations Commission and no nursing-related practice for the past three years.
Nurse-trainees will be receiving P8,000 stipend/allowance per month while on training to perform public health functions and the necessary clinical tasks to enhance their employability in local hospitals and eventually in medical centers overseas.
Mabilog said applicants who failed to join the initial 160 hired nurses under the program that are currently deployed in rural areas of Iloilo and Guimaras will be given priority in this batch.
NARS program was launched by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on February 9, 2009 to mitigate the impact of the global financial crisis. This is a collaborative undertaking of the DOLE, the Department of Health and the Professional Regulations Commission’s Board of Nursing. (PIA)
