The Iloilo Kennel Club Incorporation (IKCI) lead by Paulo Jon, club president, held a tremendous dog show event in Robinsons Place, Iloilo City recently.
A dog show is an event which purebred dogs compete for titles and prizes on the basis of their show qualities or training. The main purpose of the event is to exhibit outstanding animals to the public and to professional dog breeders and handlers. The event has the following contest categories: proper show; costume; dog food eating; tricks; and best in puppy.
The show’s judge was Bon Eng Te, former president of the Kennel Club Bacolod.
First, second and third Best in Show.
There are different breeds which participated in different event categories such as Mini Pinscher, Pomeranian, Beagle, Mini Dachshund, Spaniel, Doberman, German shepherd, Golden Retriever, English Bulldog, Boston Terrier, Poodle, Shih Tzu, Boxer, Labrador, St. Bernard and Dalmatian.
The first and the most striking event was the costume contest that had 16 entries. A Mini Pinscher named Aika on its pink outfit with sunglasses breed by Michael Jeongco got the best costume award. The next contest was the dog food eating (big breed) with three entries followed by the dog food eating (small breed) with five entries. The event may not be completed without the showing of dog tricks with only one entry and the awarding for the best of breed. In the Best in Show, there were three entries and a German shepherd got the best award. On the other hand, a Beagle got the award as the best puppy among four puppies.
The winners of different event categories got trophies and some freebies from Purina dog food.
On Sept. 12 and 13, the IKCI will hold four all-breed champhionsips at the PNB Multi-purpose Hall. Dogs with pedigrees (certificates) are encouraged to join. The registration starts at 9 AM of each morning.
