Man shot dead by neighbor
A man was shot dead by his neighbor Monday evening at Zone 4, Brgy. Bito-on, Jaro, Iloilo City.
Rey Raymundo succumbed to a lone gunshot wound on his head.
It was not yet clear what drove suspect Freddie Castro to shot his neighbor Raymundo, who was said to be mentally unstable.
At around 10:00 in the evening, several residents heard a lone gunfire. When they checked, they saw Raymundo’s bloodied body slumped on the pavement.
Prior to that, Josephine Lopez, the victim’s cousin, claimed that he heard Castro talking to the victim.
“Hinambalan siya sang suspek nga sige isa pa ka tikang. Ti, nagtikang ang pa kaisa, amo to nga naglupok. Amo to nga ginguyod niya di ang pakaisa ko sa bomba,” Lopez claimed.
Another resident, Eduardo Guillano, claimed that he saw the suspect pistol-whipping Raymundo on the head.
The suspect allegedly came from a drinking binge prior to the incident.
Guillano claimed that he even admonished Castro but he did not immediately interced since he saw the armed suspect.
“Pagtubangay namon, didto ko gindakop ang kamot niya kag ginlubag kag ginkuha ang armas siya,” he claimed.
Guillano turned over the firearm to responding members of Jaro Police Station.
Police operatives conducted a hot pursuit against the suspect but to no avail.
Meanwhile, Raymundo died ten minutes after he was brought to West Visayas State University Medical Center.
