Earth Day in Iloilo

The first official Earth Day was celebrated April 22, 1970 in the United States. This was to bring attention to all about the importance of a healthy, sustainable environment.
By 1990, Earth Day became global wherein 141 countries participated. The celebration highlighted recycling efforts worldwide. Later, activists included the preservation and maintenance of the environment in the agenda.
Last April 22, 2010, Iloilo City participated in celebrating Earth Day. This was witnessed and documented by the Photographic Society of Iloilo. The main participants were professionals who are concerned about helping maintain a good environment.
How about you, our dear readers? I’m calling on you to be concerned for our environment. Nobody likes their environment dirtied, right? We all want a breath of fresh air. So, let’s get on with it. Next year, we should be celebrating a very nice and comfortable Earth Day in Iloilo City.
