Election fever
It seems the election fever is not yet over in Iloilo City. This is despite the fact that all the winning candidates have already been proclaimed by the City Comelec. The act of the Gonzalezes in questioning the results of the automated election is nothing but sourgraping which should not be dignified by the election winners. The people of Iloilo City have made a clear judgment on who they want to govern the city. So, instead of delving on what the Gonzalezes, who are now rendered powerless, are doing, the newly elected officials should move on and focus on fulfilling their promises to the people of the city in the next three years. In other words, there’s no more need for the Treñas-Mabilog camp to maintain a radio blocktime program where all the dirty allegations are hurled against the Gonzalezes and their allies. It only creates further animosity especially among the supporters of the two opposing camps. If the Treñas-Mabilog camp can’t afford to offer reconciliation to the Gonzalezes, maybe it would be best to just ignore them. What the city needs is full cooperation from both the private and public sector and even those coming from the opposite political camp so that it could move forward.
City officials on vacation
Many are wondering who governs the City of Iloilo nowadays. Both Mayor Jerry Treñas and Vice Mayor Jed Mabilog are out of the country. They are enjoying their vacation after winning in the recently concluded elections. It was said that Kagawad Tong-tong Plagata has been appointed OIC but he is also on leave. Same is true with Kagawad Jam-jam Baronda who is reported to be also abroad having a vacation. Who then acts as head of the city?
Fans want Jun Capulot back
Feisty radio anchor Jun Capulot did not make it as city councilor of Iloilo City. Maybe it’s not yet his time. Meanwhile, a lot of his fans want him back on the radio. Nahidlaw na sila sang halakhak kag mga hanot ni Mr. Latigo. We hope Jun Capulot will heed the wishes of his fans.
