Brothers shot, pistol whipped by RPA-ABB ‘recruiters’
Two alleged members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB) were accused of shooting and pistol whipping two brothers Thursday afternoon at Brgy. Gines Patag, Cabatuan, Iloilo.
Reports said that Noel Arnaiz and his brother, Jojo, both self-proclaimed RPA-ABB members, tried to recruit brothers Ricky and Emilio to join in their group.
Prior to the incident, the RPA-ABB recruiters summoned the two to go at the house of a certain Gary Pama at Brgy. Gines Patag.
The two, who are residing at Brgy. Bungol, Janiuay, Iloilo, obliged to the request.
It was gathered that the victims and suspects are second cousins. Arnaiz’s mother is the first cousin of the victim’s father.
However, when they were presented with the proposition, they allegedly refused.
This irked the two suspects.
Shortly later, reports said that Noel pistol-whipped Ricky on the head.
Emilio came in defense of his brother but Jojo allegedly shot the former on the right leg.
The suspects fled the incident while Ricky was brought to Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital in Cabatuan town while Emilio was rushed to Federico Roman Tirador Memorial District Hospital in Janiuay.
Later, both victims were referred to West Visayas State University Medical Center in Iloilo City.
“Nagapang-recruit si Noel kag Jojo Arnaiz. Mga RPA-RPA na sanda. Pero nagsabat ang bata ko nga indi tanda magsunod mo. Hambal nanda ‘Waay man ta ti sweldo dyan. Ti kung mapatay ta diyan, ahay lang balon ta,’” said Virginia, the victims’ mother.
Virginia did not elaborate if they would file criminal charges against the suspects claiming that she just wanted to make sure that her children are safe before discussing a probable lawsuit.
