Ilonggos’ cooperation essential to census success
Iloilo and Guimaras Provincial Statistician Nelida Amolar said the cooperation of Ilonggos is essential to the success of the on-going 2010 Census of Population and Housing which ends on June 10.
“We really appeal to the cooperation and support of any responsible household member to please allow our enumerators who wear official 2010 CHP ID to visit your homes for an interview that will last for only about 15 to 30 minutes,” said Amolar.
She assured that whatever collected information will be held strictly confidential as stated in Section 4 of Commonwealth Act No. 591 and Batas Pambansa Blg. 72.
Enumerators will collect basic information pertaining to demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population and selected vital housing characteristics.
Amolar said there are around 2, 115 census takers who are deployed in various barangays of the city and province of Iloilo and Guimaras to interview 483,451 households and other institutional households in the areas starting May 17.
Most of the census takers, said Amolar, are teachers and some are even Principals and Supervisors. Around 1,769 personnel from the Divisions of the city and province of Iloilo and Guimaras participated as field enumerators and area supervisors in this year’s census.
All the census takers have undergone the series of trainings conducted by the NSO from April 19 to April 24 and April 26 to May 1.
Amolar said the 2010 Census of Population and Housing is important to government planners, policy makers and administrators as this will give them data on which they will base their social, economic and development plans and projects for the country.
The 2010 CHP result is expected to be out on or before the year ends. (PIA)
