112th I-Day to feature ‘Sinekalayaan’
ROXAS CITY – A nightly film showing of outstanding Filipino films will be conducted by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) at Open-Air Auditorium, Rizal Park in Manila from June 11 to 13 in view of the 112th Independence Day celebration.
The movies scheduled for screening are “Sakay,” “Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos” and “Panaghoy sa Suba” based on the calendar of activities posted at the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) website.
A three-day presentation of light and sound sculptural tableau on the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal has also been scheduled starting June 11.
The 30-minute dramatization of the poignant moments of Rizal’s final hours
through 8 monume ntal sculptural clusters in an interplay of light and sound is a collective obra of Four National Artists Leandro Locsin, Lamberto Avellana, Lucio San Pedro and Rolando Tinio.
On June 12, President Gloria Macapagal – Arroyo will lead the simultaneous flag-raising and wreath-laying rites as guest of honor at the Rizal National Monument, Rizal Park in Manila.
The other historic sites that will also conduct the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies are Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine, Mausoleo delos Veteranos dela Revolucion, Barasoain Church Historical Landmark, Bonifacio Monument and Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine.
The celebration with the theme “Kalayaan: Tagumpay ng Bayan” will be highlighted with a victory parade consisting of 10 meaningful floats and accompanying festival contingents which showcase the outstanding achievements of the TEN POINT AGENDA of the Arroyo Administration.
It will also include an impressive audio-visual presentation particularizing socio-economic development realized under the BEAT THE ODDS PROGRAM that will be projected on vidi-walls strategically located in the vicinity of the parade areas in the Quirino Grandstand area. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
