One of four suspects in Mondia slay nabbed
One of the four suspects in the murder of former Pulupandan town mayor Luis Mondia Jr. was arrested Sunday on a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Froilan Alabajon of Regional Trial Court in Iloilo City.
Members of Dingle Police Station collared Joebert Gumban, 30, at his home in Brgy. Ginalinan Nuevo, Dingle.
With Gumban’s arrest, police are now left with three suspects to hunt down Totong Laolao, Ramy Enojo, and Jerry Solido, all of Brgy, Tambunac, Dingle.
The Iloilo City Prosecutor’s Office recommended the filing of murder charge last May 15 against seven persons.
But Dingle police chief, Insp. Ronnie Serrano, said the warrant of arrest only named the four suspects and apparently dropped the charge against Bernardo “Tambu” Pacifico, Eufemio “Jay-R” Poblacion Jr., and Primitivo “Tibu” Pacifico.
Meanwhile, Gumban denied any involvement in the killing of Mondia, adding that he does not know any of his three co-accused.
Mondia was gunned down last February, as he was going out of Jaro Cathedral at M. Jalandoni St., Brgy. Seminario, Jaro.
Mondia, 55, attended the Ash Wednesday with his wife Evelinda and seven-year-old granddaughter before he was killed.
He was about to board his Mazda pick-up when the assailant shot him three times.
