Suplico's role in the fertilizer scam expose
Congressman Rolex Suplico (Iloilo, 5th district) wants the Arroyo administration to cooperate with the Commission on Audit (COA) and the Senate committee that investigates the scandalous multi-million fertilizer scam.
More particularly, he wants the administration to produce former Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Cito Lorenzo and former Undersecretary Jocjoc Bolante.
Without the cooperation of Malacañang, Joke joke, err Jocjoc Bolante and Cito Lorenzo will not surface to face the music, so to speak. And if Jocjoc and Cito will zipper their mouths, there will definitely be a whitewash of the anomaly that transpired in 2004 before the presidential elections.
'Nobody is above the law, not even a congressman, Suplico declared in a press statement sent through e-mails and text messages.
Suplico, nephew of Gov. Niel D. Tupas, Sr., appears to be focusing his cannons to Malacañang very seriously and has, so far, been consistent in his role as fiscalizer alongside other veteran opposition standouts like Sen. Nene Pimentel and Sen. Serge Osmeña.

Tupas must be very proud of the exploits of his nephew in the national level the reason why the governor was never piqued by the snide remarks of the good-looking congressman who is reportedly eyeing the seat presently occupied by his uncle in the 2007 elections.
In fact, in his recent press conference at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, Tupas announced that he 'still loves Rolex despite the apparent political differences that have threatened to rock their uncle-nephew relationship.
This was after it was reported that Congressman Suplico has called for the investigation of the half a billion Iloilo highway project which was allegedly tainted by irregularities.
The project was implemented way back when the congressman was still a member of the Iloilo Provincial Board and Tupas the congressman.
There are certainly sectors with vested interests that want Suplico's 'cold war with his uncle to worsen so that they can pursue their own political and business agenda.
But there is a saying that 'blood is thicker than water and a Tagalog parlance that says 'Sa pagkahaba haba ng prosisyon sa simbahan rin ang hantungan.
If push comes to shove, nephew and uncle will still reunite and together they will form a potent tandem to wreck havoc on the political ambitions of their political rivals in the entire province of Iloilo.

Before I left for Manila last week, I came across a very interesting and thought-provoking three-series article in one local daily newspaper about the quarrel of an adopted son and his foster mother who is already bout 80 years old who lives in a mansion in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
What caught my interest in the said article is its human interest element not to mention its impact to our society today embroiled in melodramatic events.
Most interestingly, the story gave me some goose pimples as I recalled my own personal experience with my biological mother which is worth a story in the 'Maalaala Mo Kaya episode of Charo Santos over ABS-CBN.
Most of us also have our own issues with our parents, in one way or another, and they are good materials for anecdotes and future references when we converse with our grandchildren.
The prodigal son should follow the advice of the writer that he should 'use his charm to win back the love of his mother instead of further provoking her. When I discussed the matter to my lawyer friend, he said that the son is in danger of losing the inheritance due him if the mother will change her mind although the law allows him to have a share of the pie.
Very interesting story indeed.
