Anything Under The Sun
Today's greatest miracle
The Catholic Church is now about to end the Year of the Holy Eucharist.
Last year, we wrote a series of articles on Holy Eucharist following the proclamation of Pope John Paul of the Eucharistic Year and the addition of the Mysteries of Light which is the last Mystery is the Institution of the Holy Eucharist.
When Jesus Christ was still here on earth, He announced: 'I am the Way, the Truth and the Life'. When He said He is the Life, it means that without Him, we cannot enjoy eternal life in heaven after death because He is Life itself...When He said He is the Way, it simply means it is through Him that we can enjoy eternal life because He is the Way itself. And when He said He is the Truth, we believe in all these because He is the Truth itself and cannot tell a lie.
On one occasion, Jesus preached he who wants eternal life should eat His Body and drink His Blood. Many believed that this is something strange, something impossible and thereafter, left Him. Only a few remained with Him.
Lastly, during the Last Supper, Jesus gathered His twelve apostles and taking a piece of bread, he said, 'This is my Body; eat it. 'Then taking a cup of wine, He said: 'This is my Blood; drink it'.
We believed those statements of Jesus because He is the Truth. He is not a liar. Above all, He is God who can eve create something out of nothing and how much more making something out of something? Thus, the bread really became His Body and the wine really became His Blood at the very moment He said, 'This is My Body; this is My Blood'.
On the same occasion Jesus mandated the apostles: 'Do this in memory of Me'. Therefore, after Jesus ascended to Heaven, the apostles gathered their followers and broke bread with them, replicating what Jesus did during the Last Supper. The apostles knowing that they, too, would pass away, ordained priests with power to break bread with the faithful in what we now call the Holy Mass.
Thus, the Holy Mass is the continuation of the Last Supper as mandated by Jesus when He said 'Do this in memory of Me.' At every Mass, this changing of bread is His Body and of wine into His Blood is the greatest miracle of today. Theologians call this miraculous happening as Transubstantiation.
So you want to witness a miracle, you do not need to go to a far place. Just go to a Mass.
