Brgy folks gang up, beat to death suspected thief
Iloilo City -- About a hundred residents of Barangay Calaparan in Arevalo, Iloilo City ganged up and beat to death a known police character in the area.
Kicked, slapped, manhandled, stabbed and later shot in the melee was Rodolfo Binosa alias 'Bangi-Bangi' who has since earned notoriety throughout Calaparan's Zone 10, 11 and 12.
Yet in the significant number of suspects reported, not one has been solidly identified by authorities with the locals now on a 'I-hear-no-evil, see-no-evil' stance. As such, investigators of the Arevalo Police have still to file the corresponding case to resolve the Binosa killing.
The incident stemmed from an early call for help of a neighbor after reportedly seeing Binosa barged inside the houses of Jose Arnillo Bartonico and Danilo Chu early Friday morning.
Within minutes, scores of angry residents mobbed Binosa who failed to shield himself from the blows and attacks. He managed to run a few meters when someone stabbed then shot him at the back.
Sources said he appealed for help and for him to be brought to the police however his cries fell on deaf ears.
When police did arrive on the crime scene, Binosa who was then weakened by the blows and massive blood loss was rushed to the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC). Hospital authorities said he had a broken neck, fractured ribs on top of the gunshot wound he sustained.
The 36 year-old suspect turned victim was blamed on more than twenty robbery cases in Calaparan mostly 'akyat-bahay' style.
