Only 1 task force for Brgy. Malipayon, Tanza-Esperanza
Iloilo City -- Only one police task force, instead of two, will be put up to cover barangays Malipayon and Tanza-Esperanza, City Proper.
This Mayor Jerry Treñas said to members of the media in an interview last week. He said just one task force could serve the two adjacent barangays.
The said task for will be operational by the month of December after the 23rd Southeast Asian Games. The police personnel which will be assigned in the proposed task force are still deployed in Bacolod City for the SEA Games.
Both barangays Malipayon and Tanza-Esperanza are included in the priority list of the Iloilo City Police Office relative to the problem on illegal drugs. The two barangays belong to the classification 'seriously affected.'
Treñas has already made endorsements to the Sangguniang Panlungsod for the creation of the task force. The endorsements was in response to the barangay resolutions approved by the barangay councils of Malipayon and Tanza-Esperanza.
Meanwhile, the tenure of the Task Force Bakhaw under Chief Insp. Julio Gustilo will end on December 3, 2005. They were only given three months to control the problems on illegal drugs in Brgy. Bakhaw. Bakhaw is also classified as seriously drug affected barangay.
However, Bakhaw Brgy. Capt. Jorge Duron earlier expressed his intention to extend the stay of the task force until they are ready to implement their proposed ID system. Identification cards will be given to residents, visitors and vehicle and tricycle pass to those who want to enter Brgy. Bakhaw.
