Wishes wanted
"I do the very best I can to look upon life with optimism and hope and looking forward to a better day, but I don't think there is anything such as complete happiness… I think when you say you're happy, you have everything that you need and everything that you want, and nothing more to wish for. I haven't reached that stage yet." - Rosa Parks
It is a tradition of this column to feature consumers’ and taxpayers’ wishes to welcome the New Year. This column is thus requesting our dear readers to please send any wish that you as a consumer or a taxpayer would like to include in the citizens’ wish-list that will come out in this column in the first weeks of this new year.
You can actually send as many wishes as you want. Just be sure your wishes concern you as a consumer, a taxpayer or as a citizen. (So please refrain from sending lines such as: "I wish my crush will fall in love with me before Valentine’s Day." Or "I wish my mother-in-law will move out of my house...") Wishes should cover (but definitely not limited to) issues on public utilities: power, water, transportation, communication; on government, public officials, public offices; consumer products and services; or the nation as a whole.
And please do not forget to include your name (or a pseudonym), your barangay, your town or district, and any other information you would like to see print. Or if you want to be completely anonymous, that would be fine too.
This column now comes out regularly every Monday (so I am just guesting in today’s Wednesday issue). On January 9 and 16 (both Mondays) this column will be featuring your contributions and this author’s wishes too.
Send your wishes, comments and reactions to: for text messages to 0919-348-6337; for e-mails to ianseruelo@yahoo.com; and for blogs to http://consumersdomain.blogspot.com.
Happy New Year to all!
