3 Ilonggo murderers, 11 other convicts off to Munti
Iloilo -- Three Ilonggo criminals with murder convictions and sentenced to life imprisonment were shipped off to the National Penitentiary in Muntinlupa Thursday. In specially tightened security provided by the Iloilo Rehabilitation Center (IRC) jail guards, the trio was in the company of eleven other convicts mostly of homicide cases.
The latest "shipment" was disclosed by Retired Police Senior Supt. Juan Mabugat, IRC warden to The News Today (TNT). The group left with fourteen security escorts headed by Provincial Guard (PG) III Exequiel Convocar as team leader.
The murder convicts were comprised of Aldrex Abian, Jimmy Casamayor and Armanito Labadan, all to spend their entire lifetime in Muntinlupa for the reclusion perpetua sentence. Ilonggo criminals Ruben Castillo, Bernabe Sembrano, Romulo Lozada, Norbin Fuentes, Elde Quilaña and Felix Sobrevega convicted of homicide will each have a minimum of six year imprisonment up to 17 years.
The others in the transferees were Carlos Escantilla, Jr. with a 6 to 10 year conviction of frustrated murder, Virgilio Peñafiel sentenced 6 to 7 years for violation of PD 1866, Rolando Navarra for theft with jail term of six years and a day, Romulo Serra for frustrated homicide of 4 to 8 years and one Robert Armada who has a theft conviction of 4 years and violation of PD 1866 with a two to four year conviction.
