Armada scoffs at guv's aide
Armada
Iloilo -- Vice Governor Roberto "Obet"Armada is not, in any way, bothered by the latest complaint and media blitz of the governor's top aide making him the latest target of the 'attack'. In a statement, the Vice Governor went on to dismiss the charges that stemmed from the controversial P100 million loan contracted by the Iloilo Provincial Government to the Land Bank of the Philippines.
This, as he added, "focus on the real issues before us. We have yet to resolve the questions and concerns raised on the loan. I will not be distracted by this latest strategy executed by Mejorada. The charges are nothing but smokescreen and an effort to keep us farther away from the subject wanting of answers."
Provincial Administrator Manuel "Boy"Mejorada swore in Friday a formal complaint against the Vice Governor over what he stated was the unjustifiable refusal to perform a ministerial duty. Mejorada went on to lay down 16 "offenses"that were supposedly committed by Armada thus the latest complaint.
"Vice Governor Roberto "Obet"Armada remains steadfast despite the recent news of Provincial Administrator Manuel Mejorada filing an administrative complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman Visayas,"the Vice Governor in an official statement said while adding that his office has yet to receive the copy, "and until then, he opts not to discuss the merits of the matter at hand."
Mejorada
"It is his firm conviction that his assiduously studying the documents, considering that this obligation involved a large amount, before signing was misinterpreted as a refusal to dispense his ministerial function. He believes that this development is a smokescreen or a diverting tactic to mislead the people from the real issues on the 100M LBP loan. He also questions the need for a loan when in fact Governor Tupas was harping that the province has a surplus budget. Furthermore, the province has yet to fulfill its obligations incurred in unpaid outstanding loans. To note the Iloilo Provincial Government has at least P150 M previous loans with LBP,"the news release continued.
Meantime, a challenge was also hurled by Armada to Mejorada. In an interview over BomboRadyo's Zona Libre, Armada scoffed at the governor's aide saying with his apparent passion, he might as well ran against him in the next elections.
Mejorada has since flaunted himself as the probable contender for the congressional post in the Second District of Iloilo, a spot now occupied by lady solon, Representative Judy Syjuco.
