800 meters more to complete Iloilo City-Asluman road
Thirteen slip sections with a combined length of 800 meters are yet to be accomplished in the 85 kilometer-multi-million peso Iloilo City-Asluman, Hamtic, Antique road.
This is the remaining balance of work of the said project which when completed will not only give great comfort for the commuter s but also help accelerate the economy's growth in this part of the country, said DPWH VI Director Rolando M. Asis during the PIA-CATV program, recently.
Director Asis said that as of October 30, 2005 , the project was about 93% complete.
The 13 sections are the balance of work not yet done "because these were not included in the first contract, but there was already a technical study conducted by the Japan overseas consultant where they have prepared a scope of work for the said unpaved road sections," Director Asis said.
"The contractors did not abandon the work, they are still around and are doing miscellaneous work like pavement markings and many others, and once the prepared scope of work by the Japan overseas consultant is approved then the construction work will again start, " Asis said.
When asked how much the 800 meter-long road construction would cost, Director Asis was not sure about it yet, but made a calculation of more or less P50 million, and hope that the construction will start by early first quarter of year 2006.
The national infrastructure program of road networks is one of the thrusts of President Arroyo aimed to spur trade and economic progress in the most remote and poorest areas of the country by providing links with the progressive areas, Director Asis concluded. (T.Villavert/PIA)
