Tesda Kasosyo Project launched
Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) recently launched the Tesda Kasosyo Project with a product exchange forum held at the Iloilo Grand Hotel.
The Tesda Kasosyo Project promotes inter-regional trade by having product exchange among the business people from different parts of the country which have the same line of products.
The project will also pursue the enhancement of qualities and marketability of products through technology and skills upgrading training programs.
The project launching was graced by no less than Tesda Administrator Augusto "Boboy" Syjuco and the seven Tesda regional directors involved in the initial implementation of the project.
Business leaders and producers from Regions 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10 and 11 gathered and establish business partnerships during the forum.
Philippine Retailers Association and Philippine Marketing Corporation which are potential partners of regional and provincial producers also participated the forum.
Syjuco said, as part of the project Tesda will set up a permanent weekend market located within the Tesda compound in Taguig City, Metro Manila. The market will serve as an avenue for the marketing of products produced by community organizations assisted by Tesda.
Syjuco said products from the different regions will be displayed and marketed in this place at minimal or no cost to the micro entrepreneurs.
The Tesda chief stressed that the Kasosyo program shall draw its strength from its partnerships with other government agencies, the Local Government Units (LGUs), private enterprises, financial institutions, cooperatives, NGOs, the academe and other organizations that share the vision of uplifting the social and economic conditions of the country.
The expected outcomes of the project's interventions are the increase in employment by pump priming economic activities in the agricultural and handicraft sectors, ensuring food security by increasing technology-based production and technology infusion and fabrication of equipment and machineries in the rural areas, and poverty alleviation by creating more jobs and making basic commodities more affordable to the people.
