Syjuco lashes at Drilon, calls the Senator 'Iloilo's curse'
Syjuco
Iloilo -- It's payback time anew for Secretary Augusto Boboy Syjuco, Director-General of the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) after weeks of being the subject of 'attacks' hurled through the media.
From issues of non-delivery of projects, mayors' demand for accounting, tiff with other top Ilonggo figures and political plans, Syjuco came out to face his 'attackers' and made public his answers in an extensive interview over Bombo Radyo's Zona Libre Monday night.
Yet it was to be his sentiments against Senate President Franklin Drilon that served as the interview 'highlight' with Syjuco saying whatever bad luck Iloilo and Ilonggos have, the one to blame is the 'maldisyon ni Drilon.'
This, as he added, is giving him the reason to fight the Ilonggo Senator if and when talks would prove to be right and said Senate President decide to run for Congress as Second District Representative for the Province of Iloilo. 'A serious fight,' Syjuco assured as he went on to announce his candidacy and definite plan to run for office and make a comeback.
'As a matter of fact, I welcome Drilon running against me. For after all, I am ready to defeat him,' the TESDA Secretary boldly said.
Syjuco also made special mention of the now infamous Drilon pronouncements that first pushed for support to then beleaguered President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo only to change his mind days after and push for Arroyo's resignation.
'Matingala pa bala kita nga sa beinte singko ka tuig nga nagligad, ang maldisyon ni Drilon ang nabaton sang Iloilo? (Do we still have to wonder why for 25 years we suffer the curse brought by Drilon?),' he asked as he further went to decry what he said was yet another of Drilon's 'legacy,' the highly controversial multi-billion new Iloilo airport project.
Meantime, no accounting will be made to the Second District mayors who demanded for such relative to the delivered projects of Syjuco during his term as Second District Representative.
'Sa ginahambal sang kontra nga mag-accounting kuno kami sa ila, simple lang amon sabat - indi kami! Wala sa amon ang disposition sang pag-implementar o sa pag-accounting, ara gid sa DPWH (To our detractors who demand accounting from us you are barking the wrong tree, ask from the DPWH because they are the proper agency),' he explained.
Syjuco was also asked about his tiff with former First District Congressman Oscar Garin.
'Depende sa adlaw niya. I like him but he does not like me,' he said.
And Governor Niel Tupas?
'Baliskad naman, He likes me and I don't like him,' went his reply.
