Rotary Club of Sae Goyang gives $2,000 for milk feeding program in Leon
The Rotary Club of Sae Goyang, South Korea in partnership with the Iloilo Provincial Government and the National Dairy Authority, has given $2,000 to fund the Milk Feeding Program of the Province of Iloilo during the launching of the program in Agboy Elementary School in Brgy. Agboy Sur, Leon on February 27, 2006.
The amount will be used to in the procurement of fresh cows' milk to feed the malnourished pupils from Grades I to III in the said municipality to meet the dietary supplement of their body and brain.
Target of this milk-feeding program are 400 schoolchildren in the said municipality and each will drink a glass of fresh cows' milk everyday, said Provincial Administrator Manuel "Boy" Mejorada.
The money was personally handed in by the Rotary Club of Sae Goyang incoming president Am Soo In to Mr. Elias Celestials, Punong Brgy. Agboy Sur, Leon and at the same time the manager of the Iloilo Federation of Dairy Cooperative.
Mr. Am said he firmly believed that with the sisterhood of Rotary Club of Sae Goyang and the Rotary Club of Iloilo City with Administrator Mejorada as the president, they could implement more projects for the underprivileged in the Province of Iloilo.
He said in almost four years of tying-up with the Rotary Club of Iloilo City, they've touched the lives of many Ilonggos by providing them with livelihood projects, motorcycle for transportation, deep wells as sources of potable water and school supplies for the schoolchildren in Iloilo, among many others.
Am said they will continue to develop new programs in the future for the good of the community to meet the battle cry of the Rotary, which is "Service above self."
Along with Am were Rotary Club of Sae Goyang members such as Dr. Park Tae Woo, Park Seoung Kwan, Kim Nam-Kyu, Lee Byeoung Geum and Cho Dong Sik and with some members of the Rotary Club of Iloilo City.
