Britanico denies running for mayor in Oton
"Not in my wildest radar, " uttered former Assembly Salvador "Buddy" Britanico denying rumors he was interested to run for mayor in Oton, Iloilo.
This he revealed to the press Friday morning at Ted's Lapaz Batchoy branch at the new Iloilo Provincial Capitol while having his coffee before meeting Gov. Niel D. Tupas.
When pressed for reason not to run in Oton, Britanico replied, "I think I could be of better service somewhere else, like in Congress. I am more interested in keeping my Party List established stronger than to join the elective position."
"If I'll be there for sure they just cannot ignore my presence," added Britanico.
"And besides, I think, political enemies of former mayor Felix "Totik" Flores are the ones floating the idea I am running," Britanico further said.
Britanico commented that the Flores couple had already served their constituents for twenty years since the time of former Pres. Cory Aquino and giving the others a chance is a much better option.
Learning that the incumbent vice-mayor Vincent Flores was interested to run for the position, Britanico said he was amenable to the idea, and revealed that the younger Flores is his baptismal god son. "Young blood should be given the chance to govern and encouraged to serve their constituents for implementing of fresh and progressive ideas," added Britanico.
Britanico confided he was no longer interested to run for an elective position, instead he would focus only in maintaining his Party List Barangay Association for National Advancement and Transparency (Banat).
