Treñas satisfied with Bautista's performance

City Mayor Jerry Treñas commended Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) Director Senior Supt. Norlito Bautista for a 100 percent Crime Solution Efficiency (CSE) for the first two months of 2006.
Based on the report of the Iloilo City Police Office, the overall CSE from January 1 to February 28, 2006 is 100 percent in all police precincts in the city. It is much higher compared to the last record. In the first two months of 2005, the CSE was 93.75 percent.
Treñas said he is satisfied with the performance of Bautista and his field commanders in dealing with all forms of criminalities in the city.
"The police is trying to do its best particularly in combating street crimes but the people should also be vigilant. The police could not watch all people in the city," Treñas said.
At present, the day time police to population ratio is 1:1,801 while the nighttime police to population ratio is 1:705. Iloilo City has a total population of 391.063.
However, there are things that should be done to further improve the performance of the city police. He did not elaborate on what are the improvements to be implemented as the chief executive would still discuss it with Vice Mayor Guillermo De la Llana. De la Llana was the one who presided the recent Iloilo City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) meeting.
Initially, the mayor said the city police needs 46-50 handsets for an efficient and easy reporting and response in every police call. Recently, the PNP national headquarters donated one police back-to-back vehicle for the use of police precinct 5 or Mandurriao police station.
Currently, the city is also working for the procurement of 20 pieces of .45 caliber pistol. Only half of the city cops have government issued firearms.
