Biscom to produce refined sugar in 2007
Bacolod City -- Businessman and singer-composer Jose Marie Chan is expanding his sugar production business in Negros Occidental.
Chan is investing P700 million for Binalbagan -Isabela Sugar Company (BISCOM) as new producer of refined sugar/molasses. BISCOM Inc. is among the projects approved by the Board of Investments (BoI) under its simplified registration process.
This wholly-owned Filipino venture is expected to employ 60 individuals. It will start commercial production by January 2007.
Jose Marie Chan is the president of BISCOM Inc.
BISCOM is situated in the town of Binalbagan, a 66 kilometers away from Bacolod City with 60,507 population as of 2005. The town has 16 barangays with 18,540 ha. land area.
Binalbagan is one-and-half hour ride from Bacolod City using public utility vehicles and one hour on private transport.
Binalbagan today is known for its home-made candies because of the present of Binalbagan - Isabela Sugar Company (BISCOM).
