Antiqueño elected national president of IPPM schools
San Jose, Antique -- The Administrator of the Antique Vocational School (AVS) Fe T. Duazo was recently elected in Tagaytay City as President of the National Association of Implementors of Children's Participation on Integrated Production and Pest Management (CP-IPPM).
Duazo is the newly designated Principal of AVS and a former Education Supervisor in Science Division of Antique. She was a delegate to the National Training on the implementation of CP-IPPM with other educators involved in the CP-IPPM in the Division of Antique.
AVS has been implementing the CP IPPM program way back in school year 2002 to 2005 with more than 1,000 students graduated in the School Field School (SFS). CP IPPM Program in Antique is implemented in 6 elementary schools in the towns of Sibalom, Bugasong and Culasi. For secondary schools it is implemented in the Antique Vocational School in Bugasong and Northern Antique Vocational School in Culasi.
Antique Development Foundation (ADF) a non- government organizations working for rural communities spearheads the CP IPPM implementation with technical and financial support from the World Education, an international NGO that supports children's participation in agriculture through sustainable approaches.
CP-IPPM in Antique has produced more than 5,000 children graduates of School Field School. SFS is conducted during the cropping season where children undertake research on Rice Agro-Eco System Analysis. The Primary objective of the program is to inculcate in the minds of the young the importance of sustainable agriculture particularly on pesticide free farming.
Duazo was elected President due to the significant contributions CP IPPM implementation in AVS to the development of agriculture curriculum in secondary schools.
