Semirara oil spill victims get assistance
San Jose, Antique -- The Provincial Government of Antique has approved assistance to 159 victims of Semirara oil spill in terms of relief goods and clothing.
The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) said relief goods will include sardines, noodles, meat loaf and various t-shirts, blouses, pajamas and pants.
Recently, the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC) and the Office of Civil Defense through the National Food Authority, also delivered 50 sacks of rice to the victims with the assistance of LGU of Caluya and barangay officials of Semirara headed by Barangay Captain Renante J. Lim.
Further, Governor Salvacion Z. Perez has directed PSWDO and TESDA to conduct sewing craft trainings as an alternative livelihood for the victims. Trainings will also include an orientation on the ERPAT Program of the DSWD and Laws on Anti-Violence Against Women and Children.
