WVSU extension to open in Himamaylan City
A memorandum of Agreement for the establishment of West Visayas State University (WVSU) - Himamaylan City Extension has been signed recently.
Dr. Lourdes Arañador, WVSU President, visited Himamaylan City during the Himayaan festival sign the document with Mayor Carminia G. Bascon. The extension school will offer Bachelor in Elementary & Secondary education majors in English, Mathematics & PEHM.
According to Mayor Bascon, the establishment of the tertiary school has been a long time dream of the people of Himamaylan.
"A college that would enable its residents to compete nationally, if not globally, through select course," Bascon added.
During the signing, Dr. Arañador stressed that "we will not only bring the name WVSU to Himamaylan City but at the same time, the standard and quality possessed by the institution."
The Memorandum of Agreement states that Himamaylan City will provide for the site and the building of the college, as well as the budgetary requirements for its operation and administration while West Visayas State University provide curriculum and educators to complete the arrangement.
Dr. Henry J. Andora, WVSU Dean of the College of Education is expected to lead the pioneering set of school officials.
Enrolment starts June 6 and classes for the first semester is expected to start June 13, 2006.
