A language center coming to town
Proficiency in English will get a big boost with the opening of the Talk International Language Center, Inc. (TALK ILC), an English school for foreign students especially Koreans, Japanese, and Chinese, right here in the heart of Iloilo City. Preparations are in full blast for the official opening June 1, 2006, Thursday, at 11:00 A.M.
Talk ILC is centrally located in Iloilo City's business district--at the corner of Jalandoni-De Leon streets, the spot occupied by the former Chito's Hotel. The building now carries the proud name TALK INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE CENTER, INC.
The terminal of vehicles bound for the different interior towns of the province is just around the corner while shopping malls and supermarkets are within a half-mile radius. The rest of Metropolitan Iloilo and its environs are easily accessible by private or public transportation.
Talk ILC offers one-on-one classes and group classes for students who aspire to improve their skills in English. Tutors are very competent. We have Filipino tutors and a native English speaker. The thrust is teaching English as a Second Language where proficiency is developed in four stages: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Students' level is divided into the following: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advance. Individual progress will be gauged through monthly evaluation of students.
To promote a well-rounded education, Talk ILC will have monthly educational trips and interactive group sessions enhanced by recreational activities such as barbecue parties, mini-concerts, and the like.
A Hotel School
Unlike other institutions of learning, the school is inside the hotel. Bedrooms have either two single beds or one queen-sized bed, air-conditioner, television, telephone, and private bathroom with hot and cold water. Also provided are housekeeping, laundry, and pressing services. Foreign cuisine will be supplemented by Filipino food. Other amenities include swimming pool, lobby coffee shop, safety deposit boxes, 24-hour stand-by generator, and 24-hour security services. Package price is P22,000.00 per head which includes one-on-one coaching, meals, accommodation, and free group classes.
Vision & Mission of Talk ILC, Inc.
Talk ILC envisions foreign students who will excel in the use of the English language thereby contributing to the development of the society in their country as well as in the Philippines. To achieve its vision, the Center adheres to the following: Talk ILC welcomes students at all levels of English language development. It teaches step-by-step, up-to-date, practical skills to enhance the personal growth of students, and instills in them leadership qualities regardless of background. .
Talk ILC maintains a stimulating environment that attracts and retains competent teachers to nurture its students, thereby ensuring the effective development of its students in using English as a second language. It is committed to high ethical standards, a global state of mind, functional knowledge, and lifelong learning.
The mission of Talk ILC has evolved to meet the changing needs of students and the challenges of the times. Today, learning English is no longer a preparation for a single, lifelong, specific kind of work -- something to be acquired in the university and then applied throughout a working career. Study and work are now interwoven throughout a lifetime.
The continuous offering of new skills and knowledge -- as well as career assistance -- is an essential component of Talk ILC's vision and mission.
