New Task Force Panay commander takes post

Col. John Bonafos formally assumed as the new commander of Task Force Panay in a simple turn over ceremony at Camp Hernandez, Dingle, Iloilo last Friday.
Bonafos replaced Col. Gregorio Fajardo who will be assigned at the 303rd Brigade in Negros Occidental.
Fajardo served as Task Force Panay commander for ten months.
Task Force Panay is the army unit in charge of internal security operations in Panay island.
In his message Bonafos vowed to continue what his predecessor had started in terms of operations against communist-terrorists and other lawless elements.
He particularly cited the rebel-infested areas in central Panay and in southern Iloilo.
Bonafos also called for the cooperation of the community in its campaign.
Bonafos was assigned at the 3ID Philippine Army headquarters in Jamindan, Capiz before his assignment as Task Force Panay commander.
Maj. Gen. Alphonsus Crucero, commanding general of 3ID Philippine Army presided the turn-over rites.
