Rid of the Reds
Tired and impatient of the never-ending peace talk process with the Reds, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was absolutely right when she recently declared an all-out war against them; no ifs and buts in between.
A lot of innocent civilians may get caught in the crossfire but, this is the price of presidential courage if she really aspire for lasting peace. Peace which has been an elusive dream for almost four decades since the proliferation of communism in the country.
Gloria's decision to an offensive act against the New People's Army however, has earned a contrary view from Sen. Jamby Madrigal. Jamby on the other hand believes that an all-out war against the communists is not the solution to eradicate insurgency. For Jamby, peace can only be attained if ever "Arroyo stops judicial killings, resume the peace talks, stop her traditional politics and have a stronger drive against corruption."
Let us respect Jamby's opinion. She is entitled to speak out her own mind after all we are in a democratic society, where one is given the opportunity to do so.
Surprisingly, the likes of opposition Senators Juan "Johnny" Ponce Enrile and Panfilo "Ping" Lacson should be commended for showing their full support on Gloria's hard stance in dealing with communism. Both senators are worthy of emulation as they showed the real meaning of true statesmanship. They set aside their political differences with PGMA when it comes to the welfare of the Filipino people.
Gloria deserves an accolade of praises for showing her guts in condemning the terroristic act of the New People's Army which resulted to our country's lagging behind in terms of economic progress compared to our other neighboring Asian countries.
Reports reveal that Jose Ma. Sison, founder of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) while enjoying his exile in the Netherlands after seeking political asylum years ago is laughing his way to the bank while his supporters in the frontline have been disastrously suffering. For the record his road to freedom was one of the most stupid acts if not the greatest blunder committed by former plain housewife accidental president Cory Aquino.
With just a little encouragement, exploiting their poverty, giving them false hope that they soon will enter paradise by making noise in the streets; chanting anti-Arroyo slogans is a sure ball for salvation that would lead them to prosperity.
For how else could you explain when a group of self-proclaimed youthful messiahs are screaming to the top of their voice within the vicinity of the Provincial Capitol cursing La Gloria to resign? Would they do this not expecting something in return? Of course not!
Unknown to the public, recruiting unsuspecting victims from nearby towns to join a rally for a "cause" now becomes a lucrative business to a handful of the group's leaders.
No requirements needed for anyone interested to join an anti-government rally. The only qualification for anyone to get in, one must possess the characteristics of having the inability to discern what real issues are all about. Or better, one must be an illiterate and living below poverty level.
Meanwhile, recruiters get the bigger size of the pie whereas their victims content themselves with a piece of biscuits and a juice in pack with a promise soon they will get their price if ever Gloria gets ousted.
See, that's how deceptive these people are. The hell they care if in the process recruits encounter unnecessary use of force in the hands of the police authority due to unavoidable circumstances as a result of infiltration.
Obviously, these scenarios are nothing but just a repetition of the previous ones with nothing new to tackle. It becomes a cycle of mockery but beneficial to a few who makes a living out of other peoples' misery.
If we still aspire for a lasting peace; prosperity for the sake of our children and our children's children, now is the time to rid of the Reds.
