In anticipation of the lean months, the National Food Authority (NFA), has intensified its monitoring of rice supply and prices in markets nationwide.
The NFA has deployed more monitoring teams all over the country, for the months of July to September, which are considered typhoon months, when crops and poultry are at risk during heavy rains and floods.
NFA Administrator Gregorio Tan assured the public that with the regular monitoring activities being conducted, affordable and good quality NFA rice will be readily available to the people.
Meanwhile, in Iloilo province, NFA provincial director Hedy Jardeleza said they expect all Tindahan Natin outlets to be operational by next week and assured the public of the availability of quality rice.
Jardeleza said that NFA Iloilo is planning to distribute at least 5,000 bags per week to the Tindahan Natin outlets based on the consumption of the people.
Tindahan Natin outlets have been launched in Alimodian, Leganes, New Lucena, Sta. Barbara, Badiangan, Bingawan, Cabatuan, Calinog, Janiuay, Lambunao, Maasin, Pototan, Barotac Nuevo, Dingle, San Enrique, Ajuy, Carles, Concepcion, Estancia, Lemery, San Dionisio, San Rafael, and Sara.
NFA rice is being sold at P18 per kilogram through Tindahan Natin outlets, Bigasan ni Gloria sa Palengke, rolling stores and other NFA-accredited outlets.
