Bacolod PNP reports relative peace in first semester
Bacolod City -- The past six months of the year is relatively peaceful with a significant decrease in the total crime volume and noted success of the conduct of operation for the opening of the classes all over the city.
From the total crime volume of 172 in the first quarter of the year, there are only 142 crimes committed in the second quarter of this year as reported by P/SInsp. Harold Tuzon, Deputy for Operations of the Bacolod City Police Office.
No pattern on the commission of the crimes was established, as the trends of the crimes are irregular although the most prevalent crimes are physical injury and theft.
The Supply Reduction Campaign of the city police has lessened the supply of prohibited drugs in the city to a very low level according to Bacolod City Police Director Col. Pedro Merced.
Due to the campaign, users has resulted to using other drugs like the regulated drugs used as depressants such as valium or others like ketamine. The use of prohibited drugs and misuse of regulated drugs are also blamed on the proliferation of sex videos in the city.
Merced believed that students who engaged in such activities are under the influence of these drugs and appealed to the parents to help by monitoring the activities of their children.
The same issue has prompted the City Anti Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) through Dr. Antonio Gauzon to propose a trainers training to intensify anti-drug abuse campaign in the city.
The project of CADAC aims that at the end of the training, the participants are expected to internalize the whole drug situation and identify their specific roles. The training also hopes to empower the members to conduct IEC campaigns as well as generate a drug abuse gravity map that will serve as the primary basis for focusing and refocusing of CADAC's scarce resources.
Dr. Gauzon further revealed that 70 percent of Psychotic cases in the mental institution in Mandaluyong are drug related or are drug addicts.
