WV observes 13th Parole and Probation Week
The regional office of the Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) has lined-up various activities to highlight the celebration of the 13th Parole and Probation Week in Western Visayas.
The week-long event kicked-off July 18 with a motorcade passing the major streets of this city followed by the opening of the Bazaar and Photo Exhibit at the lobby of the Iloilo Hall of Justice. The Bazaar will display products and projects of the PPA 6's clients while the Photo exhibit will reflect the major programs and services and accomplishments of the agency especially in the investigation and supervision areas.
Another activity held during the day is the Coffee for a Cause, the proceeds of which will go to the livelihood projects of probationers, parolees and pardonees.
On July 20, the personnel of PPA 6 and Iloilo Parole and Probation Office Coordinating Center including Guimaras and Volunteer Probation Aides (VPAs) of Panay will converge at the Lapaz Covered Gym for a HATAW and Sportsfest.
The next day, July 21, the same activity will be participated in by the personnel of Negros Occidental Parole and Probation Office Coordinating Center and VPAs in the said province. Other activities slated during the day are Tree Planting, Clean and Green, Information Drive, Gift Giving, seminar and client's Sportsfest.
The PPA 6 will also hold a Seminar-Workshop on the Investigation and Supervision of First Time Minor Offenders Placed in Suspended Sentence on July 24 for its personnel in the region. A thanksgiving mass and recognition of Outstanding PPA personnel and benefactors will cap this event.
The theme of the celebration "Butil na Misyon, Perlas ng Haliging Koreksyon" underscores the steadfast and assiduous pursuit of the agency's mandate and mission during the past years and the vision of developing a model component of the Philippine Correctional System in the coming years.
Reaching its Pearl Jubilee anniversary, the PPA is hopeful to relate the celebration to its pivotal role in the entire criminal justice system as a gem of the corrections pillar in fulfilling its mission - to rehabilitate probationers, parolees and pardonees and promote their development as integral persons by utilizing innovative interventions and techniques which respect the dignity of man and recognize his divine destiny.
With the resolution of the Regional Development Council VI, the PPA 6 enjoins other regional line agencies, local government units, civic oriented groups and the general public to support the celebration.
