CPU, JPIA to conduct public seminar on accounting for non-accountants
Central Philippine University (CPU) is answering the accounting problems of non-accountants, both professionals and non-professionals who "would like to more effectively use financial information and manage their budget".
CPU, through the College of Business and Accountancy and the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants-CPU Chapter, will conduct a seminar-workshop on Accounting for Non-Accountants on August 2-3, 2006 at the CPU Educational Media Center Conference Room, which is open to the public.
Dr. Virgilia Basoliña Causing will be the resource person during the said seminar-workshop. Dr. Causing is a faculty member of the College of Business and Accountancy and School of Graduate Studies of CPU. Before retiring from government service, she served as chairman of the University of the Philippines in the Visayas (UPV)-Department of Accounting and officer-in-charge, Office of the Dean, College of Management of UPV. An accountant and educator, she obtained her Doctor of Education in Educational Management from West Visayas State University in 2001, Master in Business Administration from CPU in 1981, and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Accounting, magna cum laude, from Silliman University in 1959.
The importance of effective financial management, basic accounting principles and transactions, understanding and preparing budgets and financial statements, technological and other tools for effective financial management, and accounting issues and trends will be tackled in the seminar-workshop.
Expected participants are entrepreneurs, teachers, and other interested individuals, including media practitioners. The News Today's Astrophel Marte will be participating in the event.
