GSIS asked to fix Capiz employees' records
Roxas City -- The provincial government has called on the officials of the Government Service Insurance System to straighten the records of Capitol employees.
Capiz Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Esteban Evan Contreras II has sponsored a resolution requesting the GSIS to update the records of employees of the Capiz Provincial Government.
According to him, there are many GSIS members in the provincial government who have been clamoring regarding some discrepancies in their records with said office for many years already but were not given appropriate action.
Contreras, who chairs the SPs Committee on Labor and Employment, insisted that records of some capitol employees are not updated, particularly with their remittances that affect the availment of some benefits due to said employees.
The basis for a government employee to avail of benefits and loan privileges mostly depends on the accuracy of remittance of premium contributions and other loan repayments, Contreras pointed out.
He insisted on his call for GSIS to act on the request of provincial employees to rectify and update their records for their benefit and that of other government employees who have similar concerns with GSIS.
Commonwealth Act No. 186 gave birth to the creation of GSIS that is mandated to provide and administer social security benefits to government employees.
