Pres'l aid for N. Baluarte fire victims up for release
Good news for those left homeless by the huge fire in North Baluarte, Molo recently. The P500,000 coming from the Presidential Fund which is intended for the fire victims in North Baluarte, Molo is already at the City Treasurer's Office (CTO) and would be released soon.
The P500,000 fund is only part of the P1 million assistance of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The amount is intended for the purchase of housing materials for the affected families. The procurement of materials would be made through a bidding.
Part of the agreement for the release of the fund is that it will be subjected for an evaluation and audit from the President's office. As soon as the first wave of the release is made and proper accounting will be made, the remaining P500,000 will also be released to the fire victims through the city government.
The fire victims have long been waiting for the release of such assistance from the President. The same assistance is not convertible to cash. Only registered affected families will receive materials to build their houses.
The fire victims of North Baluarte have also received housing materials from the different church-based organizations and non-governmental organizations. It was learned that the barangay council of North Baluarte was already notified of the funds.
The barangay council will meet today, Friday, in their barangay gymnasium to discuss on what materials they need and should be alloted to each affected family.
