Trenas denies P50T monthly take from STL
City Mayor Jerry Treñas was irked on the reports on his alleged monthly take with the operation of the Small Town Lottery (STL) in Iloilo City.
Treñas said he is not receiving anything from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), which supervises the STL operation, or the operators for that matter.
The chief executive jokingly told a radio reporter who asked him on the issue to get his share for him. He said he could use the money for the street children.
Treñas pointed that STL is already legal so there is no need for bribes.
Besides, the mayor said part of the proceeds in the operation of STL will go to the city's coffers as provided the the rules and regulations set by the PCSO.
Earlier, rumors also abound that city councilors who endorsed the operation of STL in the city received hefty amounts as “grease money.”
STL in the city started operating last Monday, September 25. It is being operated by the Iloilo Small Town Lottery Gaming Corp. (ISTLGC).
It has two daily draws, one at 2 p.m. the other at 8 p.m. The draws supervised by PCSO personnel are held openly at the ISTLGC office in Arroyo Street, City Proper.
