Supplier vows to replace 'inferior' roofing material
Purely human error.
This was how the owner of Chedmaryl Construction and Supply, Dingdong Puertollano described the delivery of inferior quality roofing materials for the fire victims of North Baluarte, Molo.
He said it was merely overlooked by his secretary.
Puertollano, who refused to have his statement recorded when interviewed by reporters claimed his secretary "overlooked" the specifications contained in the contract. He also said they based their deliveries on the contracted price. He also said they were awarded of the contract last September 26, 2006.
He did not elaborate more on the delivery of inferior materials but said they will immediately replace the roofing materials.
Chedmaryl is reportedly one of the contractors favored by the city government. A source said it cornered several projects of the city which includes construction of barangay roads and drainage.
The delivery of inferior quality of galvanized materials was discovered by Virgie Entrepido, supply officer 4 of the General Service Office (GSO) and the entire barangay council of North Baluarte. The thickness of the galvanized iron sheets should have been .2mm of 26 x 10 ft but Chedmaryl delivered .3mm of 26 x10 ft galvanized iron sheets.
The recipients thru Barangay Capt. Emilio Locsin demanded for the replacement of the poor quality of roofing materials for the fire victims. They vowed to keep an eye in every delivery that the contractor will make.
